Four houses in one bay on Sveti Klement, each with its own pool, ten minutes by boat from Hvar town. One party per villa.
Whole villas from €1,225 / night
A private villa on Palmižana is one of four houses at Zori Timeless, set above Vinogradišće bay on the island of Sveti Klement in the Pakleni Islands. Each has its own pool and its own terrace, and takes one party at a time. The crossing from Hvar town is ten minutes by boat. There are no cars on the island. There has been a restaurant on this bay since 1947, and it cooks from what the morning boats bring in. The season runs May through October.
Zori, in brief
Vinogradišće is a small bay on Sveti Klement, the largest of the Pakleni Islands off Hvar. The houses stand above the water among pine and dry stone, and the cove holds the light through the long afternoon.
There are no cars on the island. You walk from the jetty through the pine, and after that nothing asks anything of you. The maestral comes up around noon and settles again by evening.
Four houses share the bay, one party in each. You will not meet the other guests; the cove is large enough that you need never try.
The villa you take is one of four: Infinity, Cloud, Eternity and Horizon. Each has its own pool and its own terrace, and each takes a single party at a time.
Infinity has two bedrooms and sleeps up to six, four adults and two children, which suits a party arriving together. Cloud, Eternity and Horizon are each made for two.
Should you want the whole bay to yourselves, Zori can be taken whole: all four houses and the restaurant, one party. Rates begin at €1,225 per night for a residence; the whole estate is arranged on request.

The nearest airport is Split. From there it is about ninety minutes by road and catamaran to Hvar town. We arrange the crossing with you before you arrive.
From Hvar town the bay is ten minutes by boat. ACI Marina Palmižana sits a few minutes' walk through the pine, so those who come by yacht are close at hand.
The last ten minutes are the ones that change the day. You leave the harbour behind, and the island keeps its own time from the moment you land.
Zori Restaurant has stood in the bay since 1947, a short walk from every house. It sits at the water's edge, where lunch runs from noon and dinner from the early evening.
There is no printed menu. Chef Siniša Jevrosimov writes the card each day from what the morning boats bring in, so the table follows the sea rather than a fixed list.
Most guests spend between €70 and €110 a head at dinner, à la carte; a tasting menu begins at €120. You order little, in the end, because the day has already been generous.

The season runs from May through October. The early weeks are calm and the light is long; later in the year the bay empties and slows further still.
The sea is warm enough to swim through most of it. It reaches about 23 °C in June, around 26 °C in August, and holds near 24 °C into September.
There is little to do here, which is rather the point. You swim in the morning, you eat from the boats, and the water does not hurry.
