Three generations, one address

How the Tomlinović family ended up keeping a bay on Palmižana since 1947, and what the third generation decided to change.

The family has kept this bay since 1947. Three generations now, one address. The first generation came for the fishing and the quiet and stayed because there was no reason to leave. The second built the foundations of what guests find today: the restaurant, the welcome, the habit of treating the bay as something to look after rather than to exploit.

The third generation, the one writing this, inherited a question. The Adriatic has changed around us. The harbours are louder, the development heavier, the temptation to build more and charge more very real. We decided to go the other way. Fewer rooms, not more. Four residences, contemporary and private, where there might have been a hotel.

What did not change is the reason any of it exists. The bay is still the point. The family still lives the seasons here, still eats from the same kitchen, still measures a good year by how rested people leave rather than how many of them came. Some things are worth keeping exactly as they were. Knowing which ones is the whole job.
